Government Official States Ministry of Defence Examining Security Risk from Vehicles from China, as Staff Told to Avoid Secret Talk in Cars.

An defence official has revealed that the Ministry of Defence is actively looking into the possible security risks associated with Chinese cars, and personnel have been instructed to refrain from discussing classified matters in any vehicles.

Safety Advice for MoD Personnel

During a recent interview on a radio station, Luke Pollard commented on reports that MoD staff have been instructed not to talk about secret material while riding in China-made cars.

He explained that the ministry is “investigating” Chinese vehicles within its vehicle pools, but stressed that safety is a issue in every modern vehicles.

Our department has a fleet of thousands of cars in the Ministry of Defence and those vehicles represent a tiny fraction.
However whether you’re driving a Chinese car or a car from another country, our instruction to our people is not to plug Ministry of Defence technology into their car, to avoid having discussions at a secret level in any kind of vehicle, because of the growing risks of eavesdropping that are present in every single vehicle, to only have those confidential talks in secure locations. This is a wise and reasonable thing for anyone concerned about safety.

When it was put to him that it would be wise for the ministry to cease using every Chinese vehicles, Pollard responded: ‘That’s precisely what we’re investigating at the present time.”

Broader Security Background

The announcement comes as reports from Norway and Denmark have alerted the United Kingdom to the presence of multi-purpose shutdown mechanisms in Chinese-made electric buses, which could enable China to disable buses and cause disruption to public transit.

Furthermore, a Russia spy ship has been directing lasers at RAF aircrew, labeled a “highly dangerous” act by defence officials.

This wider security situation underscores the importance of robust protocols and vigilance in every aspects of government operations, from transport usage to communication habits.
